Rufus and Delilah Dog Walking is featuring Duke as the Los Angeles dog adoption of the week. Gorgeous Duke is a 3 year old Mastiff mix. He is a lovely dog and good with people of all ages. He got on board The Rescue Train, a non-profit no kill organization dedicated to eliminating animal suffering and euthanasia through hands on rescue work, dedication to spay/neuter, education and awareness, when his owner fell onto hard financial times. His owner asked The Rescue Train to take Duke in so Duke wouldn’t have to go to the shelter.
Duke is a 90 pound sensitive dog. It was hard for him to say good bye to his person as he is incredibly loyal. The sun has come out and Duke is now ready to show the world his happy silly side and find love again.
Just like his name sake “Marmaduke” he sometimes doesn’t know his own strength and size and likes to stand close to people, so he wouldn’t’ be a good match for small children or senior citizens because he could accidentally knock someone over. Duke is well behaved on leash around other dogs. However, he can be insecure and defensive around some dogs. For this reason, he would be best as the only dog in a home. Duke would be great for a person that has experience with large dogs and is looking for a special soul as a companion.
Duke is neutered, up to date on shots, and micro-chipped. For more information on the Mastiff dog breed, check out this link, http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/mastiff.
