Rufus and Delilah is featuring Knock (A1559955), a sweet and gentle American Staffordshire Terrier as the Los Angeles dog adoption of the week. If you or anyone you know is looking to adopt a dog in the Los Angeles area, Knock may be the dog for you. Even if you live outside the Los Angeles area, Knock would love to catch a ride home with you.
In the word’s of Sherry Brewer, a volunteer at East Valley Animal Services who has gotten to know Knock…
Knock it off and get to the East Valley Animal Shelter and adopt Knock (A1559955)!”
Knock was brought to the East Valley Animal Shelter as a stray with a microchip but his “humans” didn’t come to redeem him. He is now redlisted and his days at the shelter may be numbered. Knock may look scary to some but he is quite a mellow fellow and very handsome. His good nature can be demonstrated by the gentle way he takes treats from adults and children, as shown in a picture below, by how non-reactive he is when he walks through the shelter aisles while dogs are barking at him, and by how affectionate he is. These traits are all very impressive.
Although the shelter doesn’t know if Knock is housebroken, when he is taken for a walk in the shelter’s yard, he backs himself up to a tree or fence and relieves himself there, as if he doesn’t want to dirty anywhere he may walk. When Knock is brought into the shelter lobby, he is friendly to everyone who comes up to meet him, including children. Knock is approximately 6 years old and he has all his shots. He isn’t neutered yet, but will be before going home with a FuRRRRever family.
American Staffordshire Terrier’s, one of several breeds commonly known as Pit Bull Terriers, often get a bad rap when they are usually wonderful and loyal dogs when in the right homes. Knock deserves a home with a family or companion who understands commitment and responsibility, who would never abandon him again.
