Los Angeles Dog Adoption – Meet Xena

Los Angeles Dog AdoptionRufus and Delilah Dog Walking is featuring Xena (A0960329) who is 7-years old as the Los Angeles dog adoption of the week.  When some people hear the name “Xena”, they may think of the fictional warrior princess who, in the once popular TV series, traveled around fighting evil.  This very real and sensitive dog is also named Xena and she is, indeed, a princess. What this Xena is fighting for, however, is a new lease on life, because unlike a princess who would likely be pampered and sheltered by a loving family, Xena’s “family” surrendered her to the East Valley Animal Shelter, claiming they were moving. She is sheltered all right, in a cement cage where there is little protection from just about anything.

Xena’s story began approximately 7 years ago, when she was adopted as a puppy. When brought to the shelter, on February 18, her “family” shared with an employee that she is a “‘couch potato’, she is friendly with everyone, and she is scared of loud noise.  So imagine Xena’s fear in the very loud and scary shelter.  Thankfully, Xena has recently become less hesitant about exiting her cement cage. In fact, she gets very excited when she sees a volunteer approaching with a leash to take her for a walk so she can relieve herself, explore her new surroundings, and get some human interaction.

Xena is a beauty with a soft, blondish coat. She has soulful eyes above a longish nose, and velvety ears.  Her back bowed legs do not inhibit her energy level or her exploratory nature. Xena would be a good companion for a person/family who likes to go on walks or hikes and, yes, she would love to be a couch potato (although she would be happy on a floor pillow) and keep company while her family is reading or watching TV.

Los Angeles Dog AdoptionXena, the TV series, came to an end, but you can create a spin-off series for Xena (A0960329) the loving and loyal dog, and give her many more seasons to enjoy life.
