Pet Sitting In Sherman Oaks – 6 Questions To Ask Yourself To Help Determine Whether Overnight Pet Sitting Or Multiple Daily Pet Sitting Visits Is The Right Fit For Your And Your Pets

When you are out of town or gone overnight, would you prefer a pet sitter to stay in your home overnight with your pets?  Alternatively, would you prefer to have a pet sitter who comes multiple times a day for shorter visits or a combination of both overnights and visits added during the day?  Whether you are looking for pet sitting in Sherman Oaks or the city where you live, I find the answer is unique to each person I know.  In my experience, overnight stays are not limited to people with dogs. I know people who like having an overnight sitter for their cats.  I also know many people who prefer multiple daily visits for their dogs or cats rather than having a sitter stay in their home overnight.

  • How independent are your pets?
  • Would they be comfortable spending the night alone in your home or alone in your bed without someone with them?
  • Do your dogs reply on someone to take them outside each time they need to go  potty and can they hold their bladder overnight?
  • Would you feel comfortable leaving your pets home alone overnight?
  • Do your pets have medical conditions  that would make it so you don’t want them alone for too many hours at a time?
  • Do your pets have separation anxiety?

Personally, when I first started writing this I thought I would not be comfortable leaving my dogs, Beatrice and Florence, alone overnight for pet sitting in Sherman Oaks.  I am the first to admit I am over the top with the attention and care I give Beatrice and Florence and this choice may be based more on my needs than their needs.  I thought perhaps for an emergency or one night situation I would be okay leaving them alone overnight.  Then after considering the 6 questions to ask yourself to help determine if overnight pet sitting of multiple daily pet sitting visits is the right fit, I thought if I were gone more than one night, I would want them to have a sitter who comes at least once during the day and then stays with them overnight.  I based that judgment on the fact that Beatrice and Florence are accustomed to me being home with them most of the time even though they spend a good part of their day sleeping.  However, with more thought on the topic, if I were only away for a day or two I would consider having a sitter check on them 4 times a day rather than staying overnight.

Like I said, when I first started to write this blog I thought I would say overnights are the only option for me for pet sitting in Sherman Oaks for my girls but the more I think about their needs versus my needs I truly think they would be fine with multiple daily visits over a short period.
