Healthy Dog Biscuit Recipes In Celebration Of National Dog Biscuit Day

National Dog Biscuit Day(2)

February promises plenty of opportunity to celebrate your friendship with your dog. Mere days after Valentine’s Day, the canine world celebrates National Dog Biscuit Day. And, what better way to commemorate such a fun holiday than to make a few easy batches of healthy dog biscuits for your dog?

Here are two easy to make dog biscuits you may want to make for your dog in honor of National Dog Biscuit Day:

Peanut Butter & Banana Biscuits

Step One: Gather the ingredients.

  • 1/3 cup of peanut butter
  • ½ cup of banana (mashed)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1 cup of flour (whole wheat is healthiest)
  • ½ cup of wheat germ

Step Two: Preheat the oven.

Preheat the oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is heating, take a baking sheet and spread a thin layer of grease on it so the biscuits don’t stick to the bottom during baking.

Step Three: Mix the ingredients.

Mix the peanut butter, banana, honey, and egg until the ingredients are blended together. Add the wheat germ and flour. Mix thoroughly.

Step Four: Roll the dough.

Now that you’ve thoroughly mixed the ingredients together, you’ve got the perfect dough. Remove it from the bowl and put it on a cutting board. Roll the dough out flat until it is approximately a quarter of an inch thick. Use a knife or a cookie cutter to create the design of the biscuits.

Step Five: Bake the biscuits.

Gently take each biscuit, rub some egg white on the top of each then place it on the pre-greased cookie sheet. Put in the oven and allow to bake for a half an hour.

Step Six:

Allow the biscuits to cool then offer to your pup.

  • 1 egg
  • ½ of a cup of blueberries, preferably frozen and unsweetened
  • ¼ cup of olive oil
  • 2 ½ cups of quinoa flour
  • 1 ½ cups of oat flour

 Step Two: Preheat the oven.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is preheating, take a baking tray and brush a light layer of grease on it or use parchment paper.

Step Three: Mix the ingredients.

Mix the ingredients in a bowl. Add a cup of water and mix thoroughly to create dough.

Step Four: Roll the dough.

Remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a cutting board. Roll the dough out flat until it is approximately a quarter of an inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits. After making each biscuit, gently place it on the baking sheet, leaving approximately an inch between each one.

Step Five: Bake the biscuits.

Bake the biscuits for a half an hour. Remove from the oven when the biscuits become brown. Allow to cool before serving.

After sharing the freshly baked biscuits with your dog, you may want to take your pooch for a walk to help burn off some of the treats.  If you don’t walk your dog regularly or don’t have the time you may like our article on why should you hire a dog walker.
